HEART OF DARKNESS

This piece was built by working straight through density. Layers were added, buried, scraped back, and rebuilt until the surface began to feel heavy with history. Color here is not decorative. It carries weight, pressing, staining, and lingering without fully resolving.

There is a constant push and pull between saturation and collapse. Dark passages dominate, interrupted by flashes of movement and sudden brightness, like emotion breaking through something restrained. The surface feels worn and worked over, as if it has been carried through something rather than simply painted.

Heart of Darkness is about staying inside the mess rather than escaping it. It holds tension, confusion, and endurance at the same time. It offers no clarity or closure. The work reflects the process of moving through something heavy and coming out changed, but not cleaned up.
